Preppy Ribbon wearing Girl Meets The Soccer Player

Somehow 3 years ago God allowed Jesslyn Ham and I to meet. I say allowed like it was this big ordeal because well... it was! If you would have told me 3 years ago on the first day of my sophomore year of high school that we would be friends I probably would have laughed and said "NOPE" and she probably would have said the same thing.

At the time she was a preppy 15 year old who drove a silver bug, loved pink, and wore ribbons.. YUCK. I was an anti preppy, soccer playing, quirky girl who randomly burst out with Taylor Swift when ever I saw fit (Somethings never change).See how this friendship seemed impossible? Not to mention at the time we both had preconceived first impressions of each other from our middle school years.. yikes! The odds were never in our favor. God was defiantly at work.

3 years ago I walking into my 2nd period class, Biology with Mrs. Montrose, and found that there was not one person in that class I knew very well. Which wasn't a big deal until we had to do labs... with a partner.Somehow I got stuck with Jesslyn Ham.. which ended up being PERFECT because while I could handle the dissections, touching of worms, and loved science, she took care of the spelling, double checking of answers, and handwriting. Two gals who's academic talents complimented each other. We found that we had multiple classes together that semester after countless labs, homework assignments, and Choralier practices we put our first impressions aside and learned who each of us really were. We found out our morals are the same and we both were actively seeking God and seeking to find another person who was seeking God.

I honestly couldnt have found a better friend in high school than Jesslyn. She always is there to listen to what is going on, go on Chickfilla dates, and she encourages me to be the best person I can be in Christ. She handles me when Im hyper, when Ive just woke up, and still loves me even after Ive eatten half of her food in her house... thats what I call a true friend! She puts up with my rants, the mistakes I make over and over again... Oh and let me tell you... you boys thought I was bad? You just try to mess with me, or her, or the both of us at the same time and you have another thing coming to you. This fall we are attending Winthrop together and I couldnt be more excited!

Now? I am best friends with a bang and big frame wearing Hipster. Both of us have grown and changed our style and attitudes within the last 3 years She likes weird bands, food, yellow. and antiques. I like Talyor swift, rap, bright colors, and being spunky. Now Im asking how I got stuck with a hipster for a best friend. My answer? 3 years ago a preppy ribbon wearing girl, and a soccer player bonded over biology labs and found they had alot more in common than they gave themselves credit for.

Jesslyn just made a blog so check it out! --> http://bangsandbigframes.blogspot.com/
