Hey. Remember that time when we were like 7 sitting in your grandmas extra bedroom... "our room". We stayed quiet until your parents went to sleep in hopes that we could stay up later.. and we were successful. Remember how we dreamed of attending Clemson together and being roommates. We were supposed to marry baseball players. Remember how the beds were boats and the floor was water? Those two girls knew nothing about life yet.
Remember the time you threatened that boy on the play ground because he picked on me way tooooo much? Neither one of us knew the unspoken rule that boys who picked on girls liked them. We were never girls for games. You had my back.
Remember in the 6th grade when your closet had the special nook? I was always a little jealous that your closet was way cooler than mine. We used to dress your cat up in build a bear clothes until she hid from us.... That year we also made up our own choreography to songs and performed them for your parents.
We also got our hair done together when I thought blond highlights were a good idea. Thanks for loving me through that decision.
Then you moved and we became pen pals. We covered letters in invisible ink.
Remember that time you came to my graduation with out me knowing you were coming and my dad caught my face on camera when I saw you in the audience?
Now we are both in college and you are TWENTY ONE.
WHAT.
CRAZY.
Neither one of us made it to clemson, nor to being roommates... still waiting on the baseball player...
But we graduated high school and are mostly surviving our separate colleges so I think we are doing good!
Thanks for meeting up when you can. Thanks for being able to pick up where we left off. Thanks for laughing with and at me. Thanks for being the first person other than my immediate family to love my weirdness and join in with it. Thanks for always telling me I can do great things or that you think well of me. Thanks for always threatening boys (although one day you are going to have to be nice to at least one of them). Thanks for all our differences.
But most of all... Thanks for being my first best friend and for being my forever friend.
We've been friends for 17 years now and I hope you don't think I am joking when I say you are stuck with me... cause you are.
Happy Birthday Katie!
Ps : Sorry ,not sorry, for being weird and stealing this photo from your parents Facebook page :D
